This absolutely incredible lacquer box is by artist Uri Mikilov of Fedoskino. The theme of the box is the famous St. Basil's Cathedral, the heart of Moscow's Red-Square and Russia's most well-known symbol. The Cathedral was built under the order of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, who upon completion of the Cathedral, had the architect's eyes put out so that it would not be duplicated elsewhere. The box features mother-of-pearl and gold inlay, and bears the official seal of Fedoskino as a genuine Fedoskino box.
